| Detecting Errors in Survey Data Processing by Ray Hintz |
24 kb
|
One key to proper engineering CADD products is ensuring the field collected data has been analyzed
for errors/blunders, & then proper resolve of the problem is taken. This presentation will teach
students how the most common problems in survey data can be resolved using the Electronic Field Book
Processor (EFBP). Functions in EFBP will also be discussed which ensure that the integration of GPS
produced control coordinates are properly integrated with total station observations. Lastly, time
efficient field checks will be discussed that can enhance the reproducibility of the field collected
information.

| Real Kinematic GPS to CADD by Ray Hintz |
21 kb
|
Real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS is a procedure that enables satellite positioning to achieve
engineering design accuracies without any form of office post-processing. RTK production advantages
& disadvantages over conventional means of field collection will be discussed. Students will learn
how the RTK data can be efficiently integrated into standard CADD softwares such as Geopak will be
demonstrated

This session will instruct on several tools used in the design process. I will
show you how I use the tools in a real world scenario & you will see how I address
issue as they come up. We won’t go into great detail on any one topic, the idea is
to show you that there are some great tools available & I want you to see them work. Some of the
items we will cover include but is not limited to: Models.
Creating FDOT design files properly
GEOPAK Project Manager; D&C Manager; Cut Cross Sections.
Draw exiting features on the sections Use the new Ancillary data tool to draw ex-utilities & text.
How to use CivilPak & GEOPAK on the same computer; Plan View Labeling.
Electronic Delivery Journaling & Indexing.

MicroStation offers many tools for annotating & dimensioning drawings, including the
se of styles. Styles allow you to change & update text & dimension settings on a
global basis, offering an effective way of managing CAD standards. Come explore how
the benefits of using text & dimension styles will impact your corporate workflow.

MicroStation sheet models provide a flexible mechanism for setting up sheets intended
to be plotted. This session will review how to set & change the plot scale, sheet
size & other plot sheet settings. Not only will we explore the user interface, but
also the definition files that control sheet sizes & scales available to sheet models.

| Using Level Symbology Overrides by Mark Mates |

In addition to ByLevel symbology, you can define a secondary set of symbology
attributes (color, line style & weight) called level symbology overrides. Level
symbology overrides are for display purposes only & do not actually modify element
attributes. Level symbology overrides are useful when you wish to make all elements
on a given level display with the same symbology attributes, regardless of whether
they were placed with ByLevel symbology or element symbology.

This session will introduce you to MicroStation’s dimension tools & the settings
that control the appearance & behavior of dimensions. We will also explore the
enhancements to the typical dimension tools over the past few releases. Note: this
session will not cover dimension styles. Please attend my session titled Why Use
Text & Dimension Styles for a full discussion of dimension styles.
